Grassy Creek Winter Sports Update

Winter Volleyball Team Wins Championship

Grassy Creek can claim another volleyball championship! They won the Main Street Baptist Church Winter Volleyball League Championship on Thursday, January 19.

GC first took on Highland Heights in the Final 4 semifinals. Grassy Creek won the first game and Highland Heights won the second game as both were close games.

Grassy Creek took an early lead in the third and deciding game. Highland Heights came back and were up by as many as 5 points late in the game.

However, GC took a timeout, regrouped and rallied to win the game 23-21 as they won the set 2 games to 1 and advanced to the championship game.

Grassy Creek faced Immanuel in the Championship. It was the 2nd time in 3 years GC has made it to the championship game.

The results were different this time. Grassy Creek won two straight against Immanuel and claimed their first ever Main Street Championship!

Grassy Creek also won the regular season title and won $100 to go towards charity. $50 will go towards Camp Northward and $50 will go towards African missions.

The following players made up this year's championship team: Coach Bruce Reller, Zach James, Kristi Bishop, Karen Wetterhan, Leanne Biddle, Adam Caldwell, and Tim Cordray.

Also, Stevie Bishop, Jenna Cordray, and Jessie participated during the course of the season. Congratulations Grassy Creek!!!
