CAMP NORTHWARD ANNOUNCEMENT
Campers, parents, and guardians,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! May you experience peace and joy by the power of the One who is in you during this challenging time.
I am deeply sorry to tell you that Camp Northward has canceled all its summer camps for 2020. This decision was not made lightly, and much discussion and prayer were involved. We believe it was important to make this decision to protect the health and safety of each camper and their family, as well as all our volunteers and staff. We are deeply saddened to make this announcement; we are frustrated along with you by the reality that we must deal with right now. We will miss seeing you this summer!
We know that COVID-19 has impacted your life in very real and serious ways. With school being at home for the last two months, stay-at-home orders being issued, jobs being lost, masks and social distancing becoming the norm, and now camps being canceled, it may seem like the world is unraveling. We know that depression, anxiety, and feelings of isolation are very real and may be something that you are struggling with. If you need to talk or would like to have someone pray with you, please feel free to contact us. We are here for you and want to help! You can contact us at email@example.com or 859-445-7551. If you would rather talk with someone you do not know, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1 (800) 273-8255. You are not alone; please do not struggle alone. I know it can be hard to do, but please reach out to a trustworthy adult who can help. Parents, please begin a conversation with your child and encourage them to talk about the struggles they are facing during this difficult time.
As we continue through the year, we ask that you keep the camp in your prayers. While we may not be hosting campers this summer, that does not mean that the ministry of Camp Northward is canceled or on hold; our focus is simply shifting. This summer, we will focus on physical projects for the enhancement of our property and the improvement of future programming. We will also be exploring ways in which we can be an encouragement to our supporting churches and a resource for campers. As we look to the near future, we are hoping to provide events and retreats for campers of all ages this fall. Of course, we don’t know what this will look like or when it will be possible, but as soon as it is safe to do so, we intend to provide the opportunity for youth to connect with each other and be encouraged, strengthened, and equipped! As time goes on and we gain more information, we will communicate our upcoming schedule as we are able.
We understand that many families are facing job loss or a significant
decrease in income. Some of our churches are also experiencing financial hardship. You are in our hearts and prayers, and we do not wish to further burden you. Refunds will be made available to those
who have already made a tuition deposit for summer camp this year; more information about that will be sent directly to those preregistered. We are also providing a free t-shirt (while
supplies last!) with our 2020 summer logo to all campers, even if they had not yet registered for camp this summer. You can request this FREE t-shirt by filling out a simple form on our
website at www.campnorthward.org/COVID-
Some of our expenses will not be as high since we are not hosting camps,
but many expenses are unavoidable and will continue regardless of summer camp being cancelled. We are implementing measures to cut costs, but we anticipate having a greater need at this time as
churches and families who regularly give to Camp Northward are also affected by financial strain. If you have not been negatively affected from a financial standpoint by COVID-19 and are in a
position to do so, we ask that you prayerfully consider supporting the ministry of Camp Northward through giving a donation during this unique time. You can do so by going to www.campnorthward.com/
Again, I am deeply sorry to have to bring you this news. I encourage you to take to heart the words of the Apostle Paul from Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” God’s got this; and God’s got YOU! Pray with me that we may see each other at Camp Northward this fall!
